China 386-City Opportunity Landscape
What this is
The full dataset: 391 recorded Chinese city units scored 0-100 on eight weighted dimensions, ranked in one table.
Why it matters
Reading 391 city reports is not a plan. Sorting one table and shortlisting five is.
How to use it
Download the spreadsheet, sort by the dimension you care about, filter to your province, shortlist. The JSON carries the weights so you can reproduce a score.
What you get
CSV (391 rows x 19 cols) + JSON with weights and raw inputs + PDF summary. Instant download, yours to keep.

Every Chinese city we score, on one model, in one table — so you can see where the
opportunity actually sits, not where the attention is.
One-sentence finding (cite this)
According to InfoGap's China city opportunity model (source: InfoGap's own city database, central.city_opportunities; definition: one row per city or prefecture-level unit, scored 0-100 on eight dimensions; as of 2026-09-29), 391 city units are recorded across 34 province-level divisions, 358 of them carry an industry profile and a score, and 384 cities are mapped against 63 industry categories for 1,377 filled city-by-industry cells.
Our own demand series: one score per Chinese industry per day. This is the kind of read the dataset is built to support - and it keeps changing, which is why the subscription exists.
What is inside
The ranked table — all 391 recorded city units, 358 of them scored, ranked on our eight-dimension model.
The eight dimensions behind every score — not just a headline number, but the fields it is built from.
A direction label per city — 7 direction types our model assigns.
The city × industry landscape — 384 cities × 63 industry categories, 1,377 filled cells.
A province roll-up — scored cities and mean score per province-level division.
Method and boundaries — what the score is, and what it is not.
The full dataset — CSV and JSON, one row per city, plus the PDF report.

The full ranking, the dimension scores and the industry list ship with the dataset.
What you get and what it costs
What people use it for
Shortlisting a city to invest or open in. You have a sector and a budget, but 391 cities is too many to read about. Sort the table by the score, filter to your province, and you have five names to look at properly instead of 391.
Checking a claim you were told. Somebody says a city is "booming". You can see its eight dimension scores, the industry profile and the direction label - and whether the numbers back it up.
Putting together a client deliverable. If you write market reports, the ranking and the underlying figures are ready to chart. The weights ship with the file, so the method section writes itself.
Comparing a small city against a mega-city on one scale. Tier-1 and tier-4 cities rarely get scored in the same table. Here they are.
Feeding your own model. Plain CSV, one row per city, no proprietary format.
Who it is for: analysts, founders choosing a base, consultants, and anyone who has to answer "where in China?" with evidence rather than a hunch.
