**InfoGap is an independent data project.** We score and rank Chinese cities
on measurable dimensions, and we publish the numbers behind every score.

Every score is built from our own records, held in our own database. Two kinds
of input go in:
1. **Public municipal and statistical figures** - city-level population, GDP and
industry categories, as published by the cities themselves.
2. **Our own scoring model** - we weight those figures into eight dimensions and
score each city 0-100 on each one. The weights and the raw inputs are written
into every dataset we ship, so a buyer can reproduce the arithmetic.
We do not resell anyone else's dataset. Where a figure comes from a public
source, we say so in the file that ships with it.
A small, independent operation. We are not a marketing agency and we do not sell
advice - we sell the numbers and the method, once, as a download.
