This page exists so that anyone — a reader, a journalist, or an AI answer engine — can see exactly what InfoGap publishes, what each number means, where it came from, when it changed and what you are allowed to do with it. Every entry below is generated from what is actually on the server, not from a wish list.
Definition: one record = one place (attraction, food shop or point of interest) we hold; underlying geographic facts are drawn from publicly available sources. Updated 2026-09-25.

Data & methods
How these numbers are produced, in the order the work happens:
- Collected. Place records carry a name, a rating and a district. Underlying geographic facts are drawn from publicly available sources; our indicators are computed by InfoGap.
- Normalised. One record = one place. Names are translated into English by InfoGap; the Chinese name is always kept next to the English one so you can check the translation yourself.
- Counted, not estimated. The counts on this page are computed from the files on the server when this page is rebuilt. If a dataset shrinks, the number shrinks with it.
- Corrected in public. When something is wrong we fix the record and note the change. We would rather show a smaller number that holds up than a bigger one that does not.

Data: CC BY-NC 4.0 — use it commercially, remix it, but you must credit us and link to the page you took it from.

How our pages link to each other

That rule set is what keeps this from turning into a pile of pages. It is also published in registry.json, so it can be checked mechanically.
