1 · What it does

You do not need 384 cities. You need the right handful.

Send us your industry in one line and you get back a short brief: the cities where that industry is actually present, the ones that still have room left, and a straight call on each. The brief tells you what to do, why, and what to watch — not a database you have to read yourself.

2 · Our analysis — the part nobody else does

Most city data tells you a city is big. That is the wrong question.

Big tells you where everyone already is. We ask three different questions, and every number below comes from our own models, dated.

Curve analysis — where is this market in its cycle?

For every city and industry we track, we lay the last ten years end to end and label the stage it is in: ramping, near peak, declining, bottoming out. You get the direction, how fast it is moving, how much room is left, and a warning when the curve turns.

Our curve engine (v4.2) has scored 1,000 ten-year series this way, covering 2015–2024 across 179 economies. In that set 235 are sitting on a peak and 218 are already falling fast. Telling those two apart before you commit is the whole point.

Market analysis — is the advantage real, or is everyone claiming it?

Tell us your industry and you do not get the cities that merely mention it. You get the ones that actually carry it — and how crowded that claim is. Our city × industry matrix records 1,377 city–industry pairs across 384 Chinese cities and 63 industries: only 5.7% of every city × industry combination is filled.

That sparseness is the signal. Electronics appears in 132 of our city rows, manufacturing in 110, tourism in 109. When nearly every city claims an industry, that industry is a floor, not an edge. We sort the rest into three buckets: worth entering now, already crowded, and overlooked.

Resilience — does it bend, or does it break?

Strong in a good year is not the same as steady in a bad one. We score each market on six weighted dimensions — diversification (25%), complexity (20%), stability (20%), upgrading (15%), recovery (15%), concentration (5%) — by percentile rank, so the result is a position, not a hunch.

The test runs today across 235 economies. It is the number that keeps you out of a place that only looks good while everything is going up.
